Press Release From NZ Outdoors Party. 30/6/2020
Tahr Eradication Plan by Doc, Eugene Sage and Forest & Bird.
The New Zealand Outdoors Party is horrified by the audacity of Minister Eugenie Sage and her latest tahr plan which would eradicate all tahr from the New Zealand mountains. Tahr are a CITES (The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) endangered animal and revered around the world. How can New Zealand, a country where one celebrates the great outdoors and free access to wild foods set out to destroy such a species while to the rest of the world they are endangered. Alan Simmons went on to say
“That it is time Hunters stood up and actively made a stand en mass rather than making weak media statements. The New Zealand Outdoors Party has been leading by example and actively encouraging communities around New Zealand to stand up for democracy and their rights. We’ll look to rally the hunting community and blockade any attempts by DOC to wipe out the Tahr. If we don’t make a stand over this these rights will be gone forever.
We have been actively speaking around New Zealand on 5G and people power and our walk, talk and chalk tour of New Zealand where we ask the communities around New Zealand what matters to them. Constantly people complained that the government are not listening to the people and they are determined to proceed with their own agendas despite the permanent harm to our great New Zealand outdoors and the loss of our important wild food basket.
This looks like war and hunters need to grow some balls. And I know they will. When the New Zealand Outdoors Party wins seats in parliament we will immediately stop the slaughter of tahr and the poisoning of our wildlife. It’s time for a major cultural change to value wild animals. They did not choose to live here and have become persecuted because of a doctrine spouted by Forest and Bird and The Green Party.
