It is a disgrace they locked the people out of the peoples parliament.

Press release. 10/09/2021
It is a disgrace they locked the people out of the peoples parliament.

“It is a disgrace that the gates to our Parliament were locked yesterday to try to keep the people out, it could have turned tragic if an event caused people to panic or evacuate. . This government has forgotten their only role is to represent us. Instead they have become arrogant and seem to think they are too important to listen, even after people traveled long hours from all over New Zealand to unite in our call for freedom and unity.  Democracy seems to have been demoted well below the pigs trough in the new hierarchy of this authoritarian government”. said Alan Simmons co leader of the NZ Outdoors & Freedom party. “Last year we witnessed Speaker of the House Trevor Mallard march past protestors, rip protest signs from Parliament’s lawn and hurl them aside to a chorus of boos. His conduct then was more like a groundsman than a statesman.”
This year’s locking of the gates could have been a symbolic end to democracy. Instead the People Power prevailed over tyranny. The massive crowd found ways to pour into the Parliamentary grounds while our elected representatives hid inside.
This spirited and assertive crowd was  unstoppable. Mums with babies clambered through hedges and others climbed walls. But we should not have to fight to enter. Parliament is ours and we should be welcome through the gates at any time” said Alan Simmons.
The speaker’s conduct lacked judgment and was an absolute disgrace.  The labour government should be ashamed. The 10,000 plus people from around NZ represented a wide array of interests who were united for our freedoms, for respect for different views and for democracy.
The energy was incredible and very positive. If the government listened and respected us, they would not need to cowed in fear.  Instead it was as if they were afraid of the people. .

Earlier in Civic Square Sue Grey, the Outdoors & Freedom Party co- leader was greeted with roars of applause as she spoke about freedom, unity and reclaiming democracy. Music, the people’s chants of “Freedom”  throughout the Wellington CBD, The passionate haka reverberated inside Parliament.

“If our elected representatives have forgotten their role is to represent us,  then they have passed their use by date” said Alan Simmons.” Yesterday we were just warming up. If they wont listen when we ask nicely, we will have to start asking more loudly. Far too many loyal workers have lost their jobs due to high handed government mandates. The government must reconnect and repair the damage. Otherwise the people will need to find other ways of being heard. Their dictatorial mandates have already caused massive employment disruption and dismissals in our healthcare, prisons and education sectors. More disruption will follow, but next time it will be the people’s turn to choose the focus.
Hello elected representatives. Are you listening?  It’s time to open not just Parliament’s gates, but also your eyes, ears and minds. Its time for some big changes to reinstate democracy. “
