Keeping Our Members Updated

Covid 19
We are in unprecedented waters at the moment and they are very stormy indeed. Much has been made of the necessity or otherwise of our complete lockdown with many questioning whether it is necessary or could have been avoided had the Government acted sooner to close our borders. Indeed, our borders are still not fully secure with many people still arriving on our shores.
Irrespective of that, we Kiwis are generally a law abiding people and most, if not all, of our members will be heeding the Governments requirement to self-isolate. Indeed we ask you all to cooperate.
This is causing genuine hardship to many of our fellow Kiwis, however, we are all in this together and hopefully the bulk of our population will come through with their health intact, ready to tackle the big issues of employment, mortgages etc. that lie ahead.

The Lock Down
Your Board is working day and night to be ready for when we come out of Lock Down. We believe there is a golden lining for the Outdoors Party in this pandemic.
Never has the word ‘Outdoors’ been used so much when the media are talking about what we can legally do to ensure health of body, spirit and mind.
In addition, people are starting to realise that what we have been saying about self-sufficiency and sustainable farming practices has never been more apt than it is right now.
We are keen to hear from anyone with solid ideas about how we can benefit from the situation and even whether you have suggestions for policies that you feel are needed moving forward.
Your suggestions can be sent to our Executive Director david.moffett@outdoorsparty.co.nz and he will present them to the board for discussion.

Support
If you would like to support us in any way please let David Moffett know. There is no limit to the support we need. If you have skills in a particular area and you have some time on your hand, we would love to hear from you.
We need people with skills in helping send out newsletters, work with our wordpress website to relieve Alan of this load. And a plea from Alan “is there anyone with video conversion skills who could take some VHS tapes and put them on onto our youtube channel.” Alan has a number of older TV shows he was in which members may be interested in. We also need skills in fundraising and also someone to look after the Outdoors Party shopping site being built now.

New Jackets and Polo Shirts.
We have new jackets and polo shirts that will be available when this crisis is over. You can see pictures of them HERE

New Board Members
Following the AGM 2 new Board members have been appointed. Each brings much needed skills to complement our existing, high quality Board.

Jenni Brown
Jenni is an early childhood teacher from Gisborne. Married to Darren Brown and they have two small children. Jenni is also our candidate for the Gisborne electorate and her husband Darren is considering standing in one of the Maori seats not already allocated.

David Moffett (Executive Director)
David is the founder of The Real NZ Party and we have joined forces to make the best of their policies in our offering at the September election. David will not be standing in the election but is already working tirelessly to contribute to the election of as many candidates as possible.
Prior to deciding on a career in the back room of politics, David is the former CEO of NZ Rugby, SANZAR, Welsh Rugby, NRL, NSW Rugby and Sport England. He is bringing those administrative skills to The NZ Outdoors Party. In recent years he has run his own consultancy business and worked pro bono with Business Mentors NZ.

Stay safe everyone and lets hope this emergency is over quickly with few if any deaths and we can emerge into a world more in tune with the way we New Zealanders want to live. It will be different but lets stay positive and dream of how we want it to be. Uncrowded beaches and parks, New Zealand wide holidays, uncrowded roads, families united and playing together while we shop locally at local prices.
